The 5 Mobility Podcasts You Should Be Listening To [2021 Update]

“What podcasts do you listen to?” is a question that I get again and again.

There are so many automotive, transportation, mobility, and smart city podcast series out there that it is hard to weed through them and identify which ones should be priorities. So I’ve done the hard work for you!

For the last three years, I have published a list of the mobility podcasts that I think are most worth while (2018, 2019, 2020) and these lists have been my top shared and read posts each year. For 2021, I went back to the drawing board create a more concise list that has a wide range in topics, speakers, and aspects of the industry.

Autonocast

Over the last couple years, Autonocast has become a “must listen” for me every week. Hosted by Kirsten Korosec of Techcrunch, Alex Roy of Argo AI, and Ed Niedermeyer of Partners of Automated Vehicle Education (PAVE), the podcast covers automation, autonomy, self-driven cars and trucks, electrification, mobility and the politics and policy around the future of transportation for an unbiased (of their employers) look at the industry.

Automotive News Shift

Created by Automotive News, Shift takes an optimistic yet skeptical eye at the new tech and business models planned for the automotive industry. Weekly episodes cover a recap of the news of the week and an interview with a leading industry news maker.

I also recommend Automotive News’ Weekend Drive. Although this one is often more auto industry focused than the rest, if you’re looking for something short and to the point look no further. This podcast, which is published on Saturday mornings, is only 10 minutes long but is packed with all of the trends and big stories you should know about.

Future of Mobility

Hosted by Brandon Bartneck, of FEV Automotive, Future of Mobility covers the people and technology propelling us towards safe, sustainable, and equitable mobility solutions. Episodes feature some amazing individuals (myself included) and conversations around electric vehicles, assisted and automated driving, connectivity, public transportation, ridesharing, ridehailing, micromobility and more.

Fast Forward

Fast Forward is a production of CoMotion NEWS which covers the latest developments in the mobility sector, be they public, private, or nonprofit. CoMotion is a global platform where the most innovative transportation and technology companies, as well as civic and business leaders from across the mobility ecosystem explore, collaborate, and interact to share ideas and make deals.

Women Driven Mobility

Through the pandemic, Kristin Shaw and I have met with and interviewed women all over the world, gathering their stories, and putting a voice behind the amazing work they have accomplished. These are the women that are completely reimagining how we move about in our communities, how things are moved around the world, and how the roads and infrastructure are designed to do so more efficiently, safely, and sustainably. Many of those stories have gone into our book Women Driven Mobility however there were more stories than there was room for in the book. So we launched the Women Driven Mobility podcast series which further showcases the projects, initiatives, and innovations led by women working across automotive, transportation, and all things mobility. This podcast will act as an extension of the book, providing more insight, and keeping the conversation going and evolving.

Do you have a favorite mobility and future transportation podcast? I’m always looking for something new to listen to so leave a comment here on what else I should be listening to.
